Here is the announcement -- please feel free to email me and/or Dale Niles with any questions and to get on the list for next time.
St. Simons Island Creative Photography Retreat – more than a
workshop!
Spend a long weekend with photo enthusiasts and two
seasoned, exhibiting, fine art photographers. This retreat is limited to only 4
participants – a 2 to 1 instructor to participant ratio! A beautiful home in
the East Beach area is home base for the weekend. Breakfast (Fri, Sat, &
Sun) and dinner (Thurs, Fri, & Sat) is included. For lunch and a bit of free time during midday
on Friday and Saturday you are on your own to explore, shop, relax!
Our time together will be intense but extremely fun and
interesting. Donna and Dale will share with you how they do what they do. Shoot
together, learn to see creatively. Bring along a laptop to edit photos with
advice and guidance from your instructors. There will be hands on work –
shooting and editing – as well as lectures on Photoshop techniques,
composition, iPhoneography, natural light, and presenting your work. Learn how
to create an image that gets noticed!
The beach house is located in the East Beach area of St
Simons – directly across the street from the marsh and a short walk from the
northern end of East Beach. East Beach is known for its amazing beach during
low tide as well as being a quiet part of the island. The price of $800 for the
weekend includes all instruction, lectures, breakfasts & dinners (listed
above) and lodging 10/24 through 10/27. Lodging is two to a room/twin beds. All
participants receive a goody bag of island essentials upon arrival. Pay half now to secure your spot and the
balance is due by September 1.
Email Donna (donna@thebarefootphotographer.com)
or Dale (daleniles@comcast.net) to
arrange payment.
Instructors:
Donna Rosser is a fine art
photographer. She is inspired by the usual everyday subject – but it
is her unusual interpretation that makes her photos completely her
own. Awesome compositions occur naturally – they are there to be
seen. Donna’s photos are free, loose, and intriguing. She is the founder
of Fayette Photo Club and the Creator/Director of Nature Undisturbed Juried
Photography Exhibit. In 2011 she became Executive Director of Serenbe
Photography Center. Donna also writes a popular blog and teaches
photography workshops. She and Serenbe Photography Center are featured in the
Fall 2012 edition of Lifestyles
magazine. In 2013 she left Serenbe to pursue her personal work and to join the
advisory board for SlowExposures. Donna’s work is in public and private
collections.
Dale Niles is also a fine art
photographer. She looks at the world with a different perspective often
capturing people as well as everyday objects and adding a visionary twist.
Her topics are diverse, ranging from landscape to street photography. She
will often add textures to her images giving them a painterly feel or the look
of an older photo. She has always had a creative background including
jewelry making, painting and most recently display design at the Atlanta
Gift Mart. Dale is an award winning photographer and has had several solo
shows. Her work is represented in galleries as well as private
collections.
